High school senior Samantha Nance of Italy, Texas recently won first place in the local The Art Institutes/Americans for the Arts “Life Is Better with Art In It” Poster Design Scholarship Competition. This prize includes a $3000 tuition scholarship to attend The Art Institute of Dallas.

As a result of placing first in the local competition, Nance’s work has been entered into the national stage of the contest, in which she will compete against local winners from across the country for tuition scholarships.
The top 12 winners’ work will be used in a promotional calendar, to be distributed to high schools across North America.  The competition was open to graduating high school seniors interested in pursuing a career in design.

Students submitted an original poster design, a current high school transcript and a statement describing their design process, and why they want to attend one of The Art Institutes. From April 14 – May 4, an industry panel of judges selected by Americans for the Arts and The Art Institutes will assess each student’s poster based on the specified criteria by visiting the posters and designers’ statements at www.artinstitutes.edu/posterdesign.
