Congrats to Art Institute of Dallas culinary student Carly Tagan Gann - she is one of three students selected to compete in the upcoming Wine & Food Foundation of Texas’ Stephen Pyles Culinary Scholarship Cook Off!

Open to currently enrolled culinary students throughout Texas, this $15,000 award is one of the largest culinary scholarships in the country, and the signature scholarship of The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas. The scholarship challenges students to cook an imaginative and creative three-course meal using a pre-determined selection of Texas ingredients. Scholarship applicants’ menus are blindly evaluated by a panel of independent culinary experts, and narrowed to ten finalists.

Of the ten finalists, the top three were blindly selected by Chef Stephan Pyles, and were required to participate in a cook-off competition at the Center for Foods of the Americas in San Antonio on March 17 & 18, 2007, utilizing the menus they have created. This cook-off is the highlight of this statewide competition and the winner will receive a $15,000 scholarship for tuition expenses at their home school. They will also receive a $500 stipend to travel with Chef Pyles to a charity engagement during the year.
