Dallas Finalist Announced in Humane Fashion Design Contest
The Humane Society of the United States is proud to announce Audre Miller as the finalist representing The Art Institute of Dallas in the annual Cool vs. Cruel fashion design contest. The Cool vs. Cruel contest encourages design students enrolled in The Art Institutes fashion programs all over North America to produce fur-free, animal friendly fashions by using their own creativity to replace real fur in fashion.
Miller’s creation, a black strapless dress with a faux fur jacket, uses black faux fur with a crocodile skin texture to create a kind-hearted spin on the classic black dress. “Audre’s attention to detail created a look that was not only glamorous but completely compassionate by only using man-made materials,” said Annie Judah, fashion industry liaison for The HSUS.
“In using alternatives to animal fur, I was able to design and create a beautiful high fashion garment that does not come at the expense of innocent lost lives of our precious animals,” said Miller.
Miller is among hundreds of students from Art Institutes schools throughout North America who participated in this year’s contest. Although she did not win the national prize, we are very proud of her!
