Dallas’ Newest Creative Class On Display

The Art Institute of Dallas announces Spring Portfolio Show 2005 for design graduates.

Dallas area companies and the general public are invited to meet a generation of up-and-coming design graduates participating in the College’s Spring Portfolio Show Tuesday, June 21 at the Holiday Inn Select located off interstate 75 and Central in Dallas, Texas.

The event will feature artwork, design portfolios and reels from graduating students. Portfolio exhibits ranging from color and style choices from designing a home to animated websites will be on display during the Show. Featured works will also include work of fashion design students and corporate branding projects, including logo and collateral materials by graphic design students.

The Portfolio Show offers employers the opportunity to see fresh design talent in a variety of fields all in one setting along with the opportunity to visit personally with graduates looking for employment. Dallas area companies looking to hire are encouraged to RSVP for the event by contacting the Career Services Department 214-692-8080. Individual appointments with graduates can be arranged. The College’s Career Services Department regularly works with Dallas area employers to supply new talented graduates for a variety of design jobs.

Alumni from the school have been hired by local companies including AMS Productions, BIOWORLD Merchandising, Brinker International, Central Market, FUNimation, JCPenney, Lockheed Martin, The Home Depot/EXPO Design Center, and other companies.

The Portfolio Show provides graduating students the opportunity to showcase their work, both in-class and community generated, to the public. It also provides prospective employers an opportunity to consider and compare students’ talents and creative styles. Spring quarter graduates at The Art Institute of Dallas will display their portfolios for prospective employers from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. This “drop-by” event is free and open to the public, family and friends of participating graduates from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. This quarter’s Portfolio Show will mark the second to include work from the college’s graduates of the Graphic Design Bac  helor of Fine Arts program. Interior design, interactive media design and digital media production portfolios will also be included in the exhibits.

Graduation ceremonies for the spring 2005 quarter graduates will be held at 6:00 p.m., June 20 at the Unity Church located on 6525 Forest Lane in Dallas, Texas. Graduation exercises will be preceded with a reception from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.
