Blakemore plans to change the traffic pattern by moving the furniture around and adding new pieces including two wicker chairs and an ottoman. The wall will be painted a warm taupe with red accents and a red floor screen will added as well as fountain, sisal rug and new end tables. Blakemore will also create custom artwork for the space!

Posted on June 15th, 2005 in Press Releases by AiDallas

The Art Institutes and ELLEgirl magazine proudly announce the first annual Art Institutes “Teen Fashion Innovators Search,” a fashion scholarship competition for high school seniors across the US and Canada.  Scholarships totaling $230,000 will be awarded on local and national levels.

One national winner in Fashion Design and one winner in Fashion Marketing and Merchandising will be selected to receive full scholarships, each worth more than $30,000, to study at The Art Institute school of their choice from 16 locations offering fashion programs across North America.

“Design classes in high schools have become career incubators, giving students the opportunity to hone in on what they’re most interested in, whether it’s fashion design, patternmaking or textile design,” said Donna Sapp, Director of the School of Fashion Design for The Art Institute of Dallas. “From there they can grow that interest at design school, and turn their passion and hard work into a successful and rewarding career.”

In addition to winning full scholarships, the grand prize-winning students will attend the February 2006 New York Fashion Week fashion shows with ELLEgirl editors, as well as be featured in the magazine. “At ELLEgirl, we recognize that great design has to start somewhere, and for many young men and women, that passion is nurtured right in high school,” said Brandon Holley, Editor In Chief of ELLEgirl. “It is important for us to show our readers how these exceptional young students are taking their destinies into their own hands.”

Entries must be submitted to The Art Institute of Dallas by November 11, 2005. A local competition will be held at The Art Institute of Dallas in November, the local winners will proceed to the national competition. A panel of fashion professionals will judge student submissions and national winners will be determined by January 13, 2006.

Entries must include an entry form, high school transcript with a minimum GPA of 2.0, short essay, finished product or plan and either a process book of the design or written description of the fashion marketing plan. Full details on the competition and entry requirements are available at www.artinstitutes.edu/teenfashion.
